HospiceAtlas

Privacy Policy

Updated July 7, 2026

This policy explains what information HospiceAtlas collects, what we do with it, and — just as important — what we don't collect. In plain terms: we don't collect information about patients or families searching for care, and we never sell personal information. This page describes our practices as of the date shown above.

What we don't collect

HospiceAtlas is a directory. When you search by ZIP code, browse hospices, or read an article, we do not ask for or store any information about you or the person you're caring for. We don't collect names, health conditions, or contact details from families, and we never gather patient information to route anyone to a provider. You find hospices and call them directly; that conversation is between you and the hospice.

Information we do collect

1. The claim form (for hospice staff only). If you claim a hospice listing, we collect what you enter on the claim form: your name, your role at the hospice, your work email, the hospice's identifier (its CMS Certification Number, usually pre-filled), the tier you're interested in, and any message you add. We use this only to verify that you're connected to the hospice and to follow up about your listing. It's stored in our database and triggers a notification email to our team. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it except as needed to provide the service (see below).

2. Payment information (for hospices that subscribe). If a hospice pays for a Verified or Featured tier, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation that a payment was made and which tier; we do not receive or store full card numbers.

3. Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and which features (like the ZIP finder and call buttons) are used. This helps us improve the site and gives claimed hospices anonymized counts of activity on their listing. GA4 sets cookies and collects usage data such as your approximate location, device, and pages viewed. We configure it to limit the collection of directly identifying information, and the events we track — a ZIP search, a page view, a click on a call or website button — are not tied to your identity by us.

4. Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.

Cookies and your choices

We use cookies for analytics as described above. You can control or block cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser opt-out tools. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the directory.

Services we rely on

We share the limited data described above only with the service providers that make the site work:

  • Supabase — our database, where the directory and claim submissions are stored.
  • Resend — sends the notification email when a claim is submitted.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments from hospices.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics.
  • Vercel — hosting and delivery.

Each processes data on our behalf under its own terms. We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we don't allow these providers to use your data for their own advertising.

Data retention and security

We keep claim submissions and payment records for as long as needed to manage listings and meet legal and accounting obligations, and we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect precisely so there's little sensitive data to protect.

Children

HospiceAtlas is intended for adults making care decisions and is not directed at children.

Changes and contact

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Questions about privacy — or a request to access or delete a claim submission you made — can go to hello@hospiceatlas.com or through our contact page.
