Welcome to HospiceAtlas. By using this website, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language on purpose. Please read them, because they explain both what we offer and its limits. This version is effective as of the date shown above.
What HospiceAtlas is
HospiceAtlas is a free, informational directory of Medicare-certified hospices in the United States, built from public government data. It exists to help you find and compare hospices that serve a given address. It is not a hospice, a medical provider, or a referral service, and using it does not create any professional relationship between you and us.
Not medical or professional advice
Nothing on HospiceAtlas — including our directory listings and educational articles — is medical, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified professional. Decisions about hospice and end-of-life care should be made with a physician and the care team. In a medical emergency, call 911. For an urgent symptom in someone already on hospice, call that hospice's 24-hour line. We are not responsible for care decisions made based on information found here.
About the data
We build the directory from public datasets published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the California Department of Public Health, and the U.S. Census Bureau, and we refresh them on the schedule described on our methodology page. We work to keep the data accurate and current, but we provide it "as is." Government data can contain errors, omissions, or lag, and a listing may not reflect a hospice's most recent status. Before you rely on any detail — a phone number, an address, a license, a rating — confirm it directly with the hospice and with the government source. Quality ratings and other measures come straight from the government source and are presented, not adjusted, by us.
Not affiliated with the government
HospiceAtlas is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Medicare, CMS, the California Department of Public Health, or any other government agency. We use their public data; we don't represent them.
Provider listings and claims
Every Medicare-certified hospice is listed automatically from public data, at no cost, and cannot buy its way in or out of the directory. If you claim a listing on behalf of a hospice, you represent that you are authorized to do so, and that the information you provide is accurate. We may verify claims and may decline or remove a claim or added content that we believe is inaccurate, misleading, or submitted without authorization. Paid tiers affect only presentation and never the ranking or ratings of quality-sorted results — see our advertising disclosure.
Acceptable use
Please use HospiceAtlas lawfully and for its intended purpose. Don't scrape or bulk-copy the site to build a competing product, misuse our forms, attempt to disrupt the service, or use the site to harass or defraud anyone. The underlying government data is public and free at its source; our compilation, design, written content, and code are ours and are protected by applicable law.
Third-party links
The site links to third-party sites, including hospice websites and government sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HospiceAtlas is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or the information on it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
