What payment never changes
Payment never affects quality data or standard ranking. Star ratings come from the CMS CAHPS family survey and cannot be altered by anyone, including us. County and ZIP results sort by survey rating and ownership, never by who pays.
Sponsored slots are always labeled and capped: one per standard county page, up to three in the top-20 metro counties. They are additive: the standard quality-sorted list below is unchanged. We never sell leads, never charge per referral or admission, and never collect patient information.
Compliance FAQ
Can we pay to improve our rating or ranking?
No. Star ratings come from the CMS CAHPS family survey and cannot be changed by anyone, including us. Standard county and ZIP results sort by survey rating and ownership type, never by payment. Paying buys presentation: a badge, provider-controlled detail, and a clearly labeled sponsored slot.
Do you sell leads or charge per referral?
Never. Federal law (the Anti-Kickback Statute) prohibits paying for hospice referrals, and our model stays far from that line: flat monthly fees that don't depend on how many families see or contact you. Families always contact hospices directly; we collect no patient information and route no one.
Can we remove or hide our listing?
No. Listings cover every Medicare-certified hospice and are built from public CMS Care Compare data, the same way for everyone. If something looks wrong, the corrections page explains what we can change directly and what has to change at the CMS source.
How does verification work?
By hand. We check that a claim comes from someone authorized to represent the hospice, usually via a work email at the domain of the hospice's website or state licensing record. Free-mail claims need extra evidence. You'll hear from hello@hospiceatlas.com within one business day.
Our service area in the CMS data is out of date. Can we fix it?
The ZIP-code service area comes from what your hospice reports to CMS, so the permanent fix happens there. Verified providers can add a short clarification note that appears beside the CMS data on the profile, marked with the date it was verified.

No. HospiceAtlas is an independent directory built on public CMS Care Compare data. Verification by HospiceAtlas does not represent CMS, Medicare, or any government agency.
What's the commitment?
None. Tiers are flat monthly fees you can cancel anytime, with no contracts and no setup fees. If you cancel, your free listing stays exactly as it always was.
