About HospiceAtlas

HospiceAtlas is an independent directory of every Medicare-certified hospice in the United States — roughly 6,850 providers — built entirely on free, public government data. Our purpose is simple: help a family in a hard moment find the hospices that actually serve their home, understand what the quality data says, and make a careful choice without losing days they don't have.
Why we exist
When someone you love gets a terminal prognosis, the search that follows is brutal. Existing directories are thin, out of date, or point families toward hospices that don't even cover their address. Some competitors invent staff bios and credentials to look trustworthy. We built HospiceAtlas as the opposite of that: no fake personas, no invented experts, no claims we can't source.
Our advantage isn't a persona — it's the data. We're the first hospice directory to use the government's ZIP-code service-area file, so when you enter your ZIP we show only the hospices whose Medicare service area truly includes your address, sorted by quality. Everything on a provider page is drawn from a named public dataset and dated, and we explain exactly where each number comes from on our methodology page. That transparency is the whole point.
Who's behind it
HospiceAtlas was built and is maintained by Voin S., an independent data curator. There's no clinical staff and no marketing agency — and we'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise. What we do well is gather public data carefully, join it accurately, refresh it on schedule, and present it in plain language. Our educational articles cite every medical claim to CMS, Medicare, and the National Institutes of Health, and each article carries a dormant "reviewed by" field so a named clinical reviewer can be credited in the future without rebuilding the page.
What we are — and aren't
- Independent. HospiceAtlas is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Medicare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the California Department of Public Health, or any government agency. We use their public data; we don't speak for them.
- Not a hospice, and not a referral service. We don't provide care, and we don't route you to a "partner" for a fee. Families contact hospices directly.
- Flat-fee funded, and walled off from the rankings. Hospices can claim their listing and pay a flat monthly fee for presentation features — a badge, a fuller description, a labeled sponsored slot. That never changes a quality ranking or a star rating, and we never sell leads or take payment per referral. The details are on our advertising disclosure page.
Our standard
Every claim about a provider is attributed to its government source and dated. We never imply that a missing rating means a bad hospice. We never disparage a named provider. And we never publish anything we can't stand behind with a source. If you find something on this site that looks wrong, our contact page is the fastest way to tell us — we'll check it against the source and fix it.
If you're ready to start, enter your ZIP code on our homepage and see the hospices that serve your home.
